I have a Christmas cactus: why are my leaves going purple?

I have two-year old cactus and my cactus is now beginning to show some stress. The leaves are acquiring a purplish shade and I am afraid that I am over-watering it. I was reading a guide on abodelook about how to care about christmas cactus care and it said that it might be a light problem and not water only. Has no one else adhered to its own blooming time? this year I want those pink flowers!
