It’s 2026 and I’m officially done with the hardware-heavy requirements of modern shooters. Maybe I’m just getting old, but I miss the simplicity and the "skill-first" mechanics of the original Counter-Strike. I tried downloading a version from a random site last night, but my antivirus went crazy, and the game wouldn't even scale properly on my 144Hz monitor. It felt like I was playing through a slideshow. Does anyone still maintain a high-quality, clean version of 1.6? I’m looking for something that has the original textures (no weird HD skins, please!) but is optimized for modern hardware and won't give my PC a heart attack.
