I received an email from that great little piece of software with so many uses Tweetadder saying “Twitter has changed their site to make TweetAdder not work. We are working on a fix.”
And then just a few days ago Linked In announced “Linked In and Twitter have worked together since 2009 to enable you to share your professional conversations on both platforms. Twitter recently evolved its strategy and this will result in a change to the way Tweets appear in third-party applications. Starting today Tweets will no longer be displayed on Linked In.”
It went on to say
“We know that sharing updates hide database from Linked In to Twitter is a valuable service for our members. Moving forward, you will still be able to share updates with your Twitter audience by posting them on Linked In.”
Just Before That Announced It’s Major Changes Concerning Automated Updates
Add to that the recent changes at “We recently announced the closing of. Early this year, we release Seesmic Ping as successor to with a number of valuable features that helps make sharing easy.
We offered as a free service for many years, but found it to be challenging to maintain and scale this product, much less improve it with features. As such, our best solution was to start fresh with Seesmic Ping.”
Is There A Trend Emerging Here?
So clearly there is bit of an emerging trend here that more emphasis is being placed on actually being present and active on the Social Media platforms of your choosing looks set to be more important than random automated updates to multiple sites.
Social Media is a hugely important part of every business who sees the potential of using sites like Facebook, Linked In and Twitter as a way in which to increase their reach, and in particular Facebook have made it quite clear that they give more reach to posts that are posted from within Facebook itself rather than from a third party software such as Hootsuite.
Depending on your business model there are some potential problems in managing the idea of going to Twitter and posting, then to Facebook and posting and then to Linked In and posting rather than scheduling up some info to drip feed them all throughout the day and then interacting with people as they comment, mention or message in reply.
For anyone thinking of a career change right now a great idea might be to set up a Social Media Management company or become a virtual assistant because time is your most precious asset.
