Had this on my Expedition, same platform, and it was a cracked air spring rubber, not the compressor. Heat and sand kill them out here. Ask the shop to spray soapy water on the bags to find the leak before they quote you for a whole new set.

Had my rear bumper done on my Camry after a car park bump and got it back the next evening. They sanded, primed, sprayed and baked it in the booth in about eight hours. Colour matched well enough that I have to look for the panel edge now.

"Dealer-level expertise" and "advanced diagnostics" get thrown around by every workshop's website. I'd ignore the marketing and ask what scan tool they actually use on Maseratis and how many Levantes they've done in the last year. Vague answers mean you keep looking.

Plastic sounds appealing for the sand but I'd worry about it flexing under a loaded toolbox over washboard sections. Plywood might be heavier to deal with but it distributes point loads a lot better in my experience.
